Serving our community with open hearts
At Paradise Emmanuel Tabernacle Baptist Church, our ministries and outreach programs are the hands and feet of our faith. Discover how we actively support our West Philadelphia community and make a lasting impact, moving beyond Sunday mornings to foster true engagement.
Our core outreach programs
We are dedicated to programs that uniquely serve our community, providing consistent support and fostering connections that transform lives in West Philly (19143).
Woodland Avenue food distribution
Our "Wednesday & Saturday" lifeline provides consistent food access from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. We are a critical food access point at 4704 Woodland Ave, serving the 19143 zip code and fostering strong community bonds.
High-touch digital stewardship
We use technology to keep our historic church connected. Our "Connect" system (ChurchTrac) helps members track spiritual journeys, while Givelify makes "Cheerfully Giving" easy and transparent.
Beyond the pantry
Our ministries extend beyond food, offering hot meals, warm clothing, and fellowship to those in transition or experiencing homelessness, building a supportive "Village" for all.
Making a tangible difference
Our programs are designed to create a real and positive shift in the quality of life for our neighbors, addressing both physical and spiritual needs, and fostering a strong sense of community.
Supporting working families and seniors
Our Woodland Avenue Food Distribution is a lifeline for families "squeezed" by inflation and seniors on fixed incomes. By providing a week's worth of groceries twice a week, we offer food security, financial relief, and reduce the anxiety of scarcity, allowing funds to be used for other critical needs.
Reaching our hidden neighbors
Located on a main city artery, we encounter many individuals experiencing homelessness or in transition. We provide immediate, low-barrier support, including hot meals and warm clothing from our drives. Our programs bridge the gap between Sunday worship and Monday reality, proving God cares for physical and spiritual needs.
Get involved and make a difference
Joining our ministries is easy and rewarding. We offer various ways to contribute your time and passion, creating a significant impact in our West Philadelphia community.
First saturday shadow
Experience our Woodland Avenue Food Distribution firsthand. Join us on a Saturday morning around 8:30 AM, grab a coffee, and help sort produce. You'll pair with a seasoned volunteer to see how our market-style pantry operates, with no long-term commitment required for your first visit.
Digital connection via the "Get Involved" portal
Visit our website and click the clear "Serve" button. Fill out a short interest form to indicate your passion, whether it's youth mentoring, music, administrative help, or community cleanup. Your submission comes directly to our team for a personal follow-up.
Faith in action: breaking isolation
Our ministries embody "Faith in Action," serving as a living sermon. We don't just pray for the hungry; we provide groceries. This proves to our neighbors that God cares about their physical needs as much as their spiritual ones. We also combat loneliness by creating a "Village" where consistency builds trust and a reliable social safety net.
